Why I’m Okay With Making You Wait…

I am not a cruel person.

I do not enjoy making people wait for my stories but with that said, I am okay with it.

In this digital age, many of us want instant gratification. We want to be able to read the next book or see the next movie/TV show the second, minute, hour, or day after we’ve read or watched the first. Who hasn’t done a back-to-back marathon of an entire season of a TV show? (I totes did this with Downton Abbey). And then immediately after, we whine and complain about having to wait a whole week before watching the next Game of Thrones episode or months for the next The Walking Dead season. We want things immediately. And you know what? I understand, I’ve been there (who hasn’t?), but I also think that we’ve sort of lost the art of enjoying the anticipation.

Something can be said about the feeling of anticipation. It leaves you with a mixture of pleasure, anxiety, and excitement.

You know, the same feeling you get when you’re going to go on a first date but your eight hour work day has never felt so long, or the feeling you get when you’re planning a future vacation and it can’t be here soon enough, or even the feeling you get waiting for the work week to end so you can party the weekend away.

Sure, waiting sucks but when you finally get to enjoy that first date, well deserved vacation, or your weekend – it’s worth it.

And that’s how I am going to think about this final volume of Bound to You. I know if you really loved the story, you’ll wait. Because you know what? Any good story is worth waiting for. And I want Volume 3 to be the best story it can be. Trust in me.

Enjoy the anticipation. Ride the wave. Because Volume 3 will be here before you know it.

  1. I would like to be notified when volume three becomes available. Is there a way this can be done?

Yes. If you sign up for my mailing list, you will receive an e-mail when it’s live. The mailing list is only for new releases so you won’t get spammed. 🙂

  2. I am a new fan of your work Mrs. Booke and let me tell you that I have truly enjoyed your Bound Series! Oh my that Nick is an Alpha male through and through! And yes like a fiend….I will be in stalker mode awaiting book 3! That’s what good writing and amazing characters will do to a girl! Anxiously awaiting book 3!!

  3. I cannot wait until Volume 3!!!! I’m so upset—I read the second book WAY too fast. Excited to see how the story wraps up but a little sad too tht it will e the final book.

    2. Hi Michele,

I’m so glad you enjoyed the first two volumes!! 😀 I hope to have the third volume done soon. ❤ Thank you for stopping by!

  4. Hey Vanessa, I am happy to say I have enjoyed this series so far….However, finding out now I have to wait a month to read the ending of it, not so much. Anticipation works only if it is an extreme need to survival per say. In my current situation I read to loose myself in anything positive. My reality is at best is a very sad lonely place. So in the time before your last book to this series comes out, I will have read many other great authors and books that will probably over shadow this one even though I will set up a reminder on my phone for 8/2. Had I known this prior to starting this series I would have waited. Disappointment in my life right now is not a good thing…real life does that oh so cruely.

    1. Hi Colleen, Thank you for taking the time to write to me. I am glad you enjoyed the first two volumes in my serial and I’m sorry that you were disappointed to find out that the last volume won’t be out until 8.2. If possible, I would’ve loved to have released it sooner but a lot of things go into publishing a story and unfortunately, it does take time to go through these steps. Anything from the actually writing to editing and formatting. I truly understand when you say reading is an escape for you because that’s what writing is for me. I do hope life brings you more smiles than disappointments. Please know readers like you are very dear to me. Even if you don’t end up reading Volume 3, I am grateful that you took a chance on me. If you get this message, please send me an email at VanessaBooke@gmail.com. I would be more than happy to send you an advance reading copy when they’re ready. All my best wishes, Vanessa Booke
